Description: With new healthcare policies, exponential costs, and longer life expectancy, there is a significant need to disrupt the current healthcare business models. The "Hummingbird" innovation effort at United Healthcare was aimed at providing a team of professionals focused on finding and testing solutions to some of the problems plaguing the healthcare industry.
We specifically looked at how consumers are billed and pay for healthcare treatments. Over 3 months of studying consumer pain points, stakeholder, consumer, and healthcare provider interviews, and brainstorming workshops, the Hummingbird team focused on billing and payments (coined "The Money Nest") developed materials to test several different healthcare payment solutions for consumers.
